Bad News for EV Owners!

So you may of known those sneaky little buggers down in Parliament have been cooking up a new 2026 budget. But things are getting a little bit ridiculous and they are starting to act like sleezy Sofa salesmen! 

For example the current Government grant on Ev's will run until 2030! Great you may think however getting £1,500 back from the Government, out of the £8,000 VAT you just paid on your £40,000 EV seems a little low, considering they are giving you back your own mone. Not to mention you already paid tax on when you earned it.

Next, they are introducing a PAY PER MILE tax for EV owners. Obviously someone at Big Ben HQ realised that they are now missing out on fuel tax and this hole needs to be filled. Say hello to a new 3p per mile tax on top of your current road fund licence, Wow just .... Wow!

The silver lining to this lovely Christmas cracker, the luxury tax for cars over £40,000. The threshold is going up to £50,000. There will be no backseys for current drivers so don't expect a refund however if your car is under the £50k mark even with the pay per mile scandal doing 10,000 miles per year in terms of money you wont be any worse off. 

And for the petrol heads among us, fuel duty has been frozen again until September 2026!

So in short. If you do mega miles or drive a Porsche Taycan you're about to get taxed by the big man, once again.
